Listen to the conversation between two friends at a community centre. As
you listen, fill in the blanks with the courtesy expressions you hear.

Courtesy expressions are phrases that are
commonly used in daily interactions. They are used in a variety of social
situations to greet people and respond to greetings, to signal the end of
conversations, to say goodbye, and to sympathize, apologize, and express and
respond to thanks.

Lynn: Hi, Julie. How’s it going?

Julie: Pretty good. How about you?

Lynn: Not bad.

Julie: Listen, thanks so much for referring me to Lorraine Holt. I met with her
yesterday and she was very impressed with my resumé!

Lynn: It was my pleasure. I was happy to do it. 

Julie: She’s going to pass my resumé on to
someone else she knows who is hiring right now.

Lynn: That’s wonderful, Julie!

Julie: I’ll let you know what happens.

Lynn: Great. I hope you get the job. By the
way, how is your cat doing?

Julie: Oh, poor Tiger. He got to the point
where he wasn’t eating or drinking so we had to put him to sleep.


Lynn: Oh, Julie, I’m so sorry. Tiger was a wonderful cat.

Julie: Yes, he was. I miss him so much.
Anyway, I should
get going. Mark is picking me
up and he’s probably in the parking lot. Thanks again for you help.

It's an argument-led approach because there are two sides.

I agree with the opinion that the gap between parents and children can be bridged. Generally, parents stand for now intend to the past, children stand for now intend to the future. So the gap between parents and children is not difficult to understand. But it can be bridged with some ways to communication.

asked me a same question that why I joined the class. For the first time I
always replied that
I moved to this class because my former LINC School was closed at the end of
this May. Is this the reason why I joined the class? I asked myself when I’m
along. Actually, my needs were improve my English in order to find a job right
for me and expand my communication skills with others.

      In the Workplace
English class, I learnt many things and skills in English to improve my
listening, speaking, reading and writing. And I made many friends to help and
support each others, meanwhile I learnt different culture from classmates who
came from different background. I want to still work on because I need to
review and practice more.

speaking skills are not so well, it will limit my communication although I’m
sociable.

3.      I
will try some kind of different fields, meanwhile I teach mathematics as a
tutor.  Because I have some chances in my
life and I like try some challenge in some different field which are right for
me.
